The mortal remains of Jharkhand’s Minister for School Education, Literacy, and Registration, Ramdas Soren, who passed away at age 62 on Friday night, will arrive at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport at 9:10 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025, for final tributes. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader succumbed to a critical brain injury sustained after a fall in his bathroom on August 2, despite intensive treatment at a private hospital in Delhi.
According to Ajay Sinha, Soren’s personal secretary, the body will be brought to the Jharkhand Assembly premises, where ministers, legislators, and political leaders will pay their respects. Thereafter, it will be transported to Soren’s assembly constituency of Ghatshila in East Singhbhum district, where tributes will be offered at Mau Bhandar Maidan and the JMM camp office before the final rites.
Soren, a three-term MLA from Ghatshila, was airlifted to Delhi’s Apollo Hospital after the accident, where he remained on life support under the care of a multidisciplinary team of specialists. His passing has prompted widespread condolences, with Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressing grief, stating, “You shouldn’t have left like this, Ramdas Da. Final Johar, Dada.” The JMM and Jharkhand mourn the loss of a prominent tribal leader known for his dedication to public service.
