The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Kundan Kumar in connection with alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JSSC-CGL), taking the total number of arrests in the case to 10. Kumar, a resident of Dumri village in Palamu district, was arrested as investigators continued examining allegations surrounding the recruitment examination.

The JSSC-CGL examination was conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission in 2024. The government had announced the cancellation of several recruitment examinations following protests by candidates who alleged irregularities in the tests. The JSSC-CGL examination held on September 21 and 22, 2024, was among those affected by the cancellation decision.

The cancellation, however, was challenged by successful candidates who feared losing their jobs. The Jharkhand High Court subsequently stayed the government's decision concerning certain examinations, including the JSSC-CGL. The legal proceedings have continued alongside the criminal investigation into the allegations raised by candidates and other stakeholders.

The CID has made several arrests as part of its investigation. Earlier, an accused from Giridih district was arrested on August 30, while four successful JSSC-CGL candidates were taken into custody on August 28. Two other accused persons were arrested on August 27 as the investigation expanded into the alleged examination irregularities.

The investigation has also focused on alleged key accused Abhay Tiwari, who was arrested in July while serving as a block supply officer in Poriyahat, Godda district. His wife Sushama Kumari and brother Akshay Tiwari were subsequently arrested as investigators examined their alleged involvement in the case. The CID has constituted a Special Investigation Team to conduct the probe.

With Kundan Kumar's arrest, the number of people arrested in the JSSC-CGL irregularities case has reached 10. The investigation remains underway, while the court's stay on the cancellation of the examination continues to be an important factor for candidates who qualified through the recruitment process.
