Iran has reportedly indicated openness to a phased and long-term agreement with the United States that could include a temporary freeze on its nuclear programme, according to a report by Al Arabiya, signalling what could become a potential diplomatic breakthrough in ongoing negotiations.
The report claims Tehran is considering a multi-stage truce framework that would involve a gradual and carefully managed easing of restrictions, including a step-by-step reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital global shipping route. The proposal is said to reflect Iran’s effort to separate maritime issues from broader nuclear negotiations while maintaining leverage in regional discussions.
According to the alleged leaked negotiation details cited in the report, Iran has agreed in principle to a long-term nuclear freeze rather than complete dismantlement of its enrichment programme. It has also reportedly shown willingness to transfer enriched uranium to Russia instead of the United States under a supervised arrangement. However, Tehran is said to be seeking economic facilitations in place of direct war-related compensation and is insisting on multiple international guarantees to ensure compliance from all sides.

The report further suggests that Iran is pushing for a politically balanced agreement that preserves national dignity while avoiding wording that could be perceived domestically as a concession. It also indicates that regional actors such as Pakistan and Oman could play a mediating role in managing tensions related to maritime operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has publicly reiterated that Iran will not submit to external pressure or compromise its sovereignty. He said the country must be governed with “caution and wisdom,” while rejecting any arrangement that undermines national dignity. His remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing diplomatic signalling around Iran’s nuclear programme and regional posture.
