Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi used his address at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi to sharply criticise the United States and Israel, calling for stronger global action against what he described as violations of international law and urging member states to resist the “politicisation” of global institutions.Speaking on the opening day of the summit, Araghchi said Iran’s resistance to what he termed US “bullying” was part of a broader global struggle against unilateral pressure. He added that such resistance was “not an unfamiliar battle,” framing Iran’s position as part of wider geopolitical tensions involving major global powers.
In his remarks, Araghchi adopted a strongly worded tone, describing the United States as “a wounded animal” that “will desperately claw and roar on its way down.” The comments were made in the context of ongoing geopolitical disputes and heightened tensions involving Iran and Western nations. The Iranian foreign minister called on BRICS member states to explicitly condemn what he referred to as “illegal aggression” by the United States and Israel against Iran.
He urged the bloc to take concrete steps to prevent what he described as warmongering and to ensure accountability for violations of the United Nations Charter.Araghchi further appealed for collective action to prevent international institutions from being influenced or politicised, arguing that global governance systems must remain neutral and fair. He said such measures were necessary to uphold international law and prevent selective enforcement in global affairs.
