Social media influencer Nidhi Tiwari, who had a combined follower base of about 16 lakh on Facebook and Instagram, died by suicide at her home in the Bhusa Mod locality of Singrauli district on Saturday evening. She was 30. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Morwa police station, and police have registered a case and begun an investigation. According to police, Tiwari was found hanging in a room on the upper floor of her family home. Family members rushed her to a hospital after finding her, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. Police personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information, took the body into custody and sent it for a post-mortem examination before it was handed over to relatives.
Family members told police that Tiwari was speaking to someone on the phone shortly before the incident. They said she went to the upper floor of the house after the conversation. Her mother and other relatives later grew concerned, and a person connected to the call alerted the family, asking them to check on her. Morwa police station in-charge Dr Gyanendra Singh said a case has been registered and an investigation initiated. Officials are examining call records, phone details, social-media activity and statements from family members. Police have not announced any motive, arrests or formal allegations, and said findings will depend on the post-mortem report and evidence collected during the probe.
Tiwari was among the most prominent social-media personalities from the Vindhya region. She had more than 9 lakh followers on Facebook and over 7 lakh on Instagram, giving her a combined digital audience of more than 16 lakh. Her dance reels, photographs and posts regularly drew thousands of reactions, while her videos reached large audiences across Madhya Pradesh and beyond. In 2024, Tiwari won the ‘Miss Pretty India’ title. Following the win, she was pursuing opportunities in modelling and acting. Residents said she remained active in modelling, dance performances, local cultural events and digital content creation, using social media to build her profile and work towards a career in the film industry.

The death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from followers, fellow creators and residents of Singrauli. Many described her as a familiar face in local events and digital content, while others called for greater sensitivity around online speculation while the investigation remains underway.
Police said they are trying to establish the sequence of events leading to her death, including the nature of her final phone conversation. The case has once again highlighted the pressures associated with public-facing digital work, although authorities have not stated any motive or linked her death to professional stress.
