The India Post is expected to release the third merit list for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026 by May 2, according to prevailing selection trends. The recruitment drive, which aims to fill over 28,000 vacancies across the country, has already seen two merit lists published, with approximately 39,765 candidates shortlisted so far.
The second merit list was issued on April 10, 2026, and the document verification process for shortlisted candidates concluded on April 27. Based on previous patterns, India Post typically announces subsequent merit lists within 10 to 12 days after the completion of verification for the previous round. This timeline places the expected release of the third merit list in early May, although candidates are advised to rely on official confirmation for the exact date.
Applicants who were not selected in the first two rounds are now awaiting the upcoming list with anticipation. The merit lists are released state-wise and can be accessed through the official GDS recruitment portal. Candidates will need to download the PDF corresponding to their postal circle and check for their names or registration numbers.

The recruitment campaign was launched to fill 28,636 GDS positions nationwide. The application process was conducted entirely online, beginning on February 2 and closing on February 14, 2026. Eligibility criteria required applicants to have passed Class 10 and possess knowledge of the local language relevant to their postal region.
Candidates were required to fall within the age bracket of 18 to 40 years as of February 16, 2026, with age relaxations applicable as per government norms. The selection process is based on merit, typically calculated from marks obtained in the qualifying examination, without a written test. With one more merit list expected, the recruitment process is nearing its final stages. Aspirants are encouraged to regularly monitor official updates and complete any required documentation promptly if shortlisted, as the process moves toward final appointments.
