India and Israel have agreed to establish a robust institutional framework to strengthen their defence ties, marking a significant step in their strategic partnership. The decision came during a bilateral meeting in New Delhi between Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Major General (Res) Amir Baram, Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Defence.
The two nations committed to deepening bilateral defence cooperation with a long-term perspective, focusing on advanced technologies, counter-terrorism, and strategic planning. “They concurred to develop an institutional framework for further deepening of defence ties,” the Indian defence ministry stated, highlighting the mutual resolve to enhance military-to-military engagements.
Baram condemned the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, expressing full support for India’s fight against terrorism. Singh reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism, condemned the October 7, 2023, terror attacks on Israel, and called for the release of all hostages.

The meeting reviewed ongoing defence collaboration since the last Joint Working Group meeting in July 2024. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan also engaged with Baram, discussing global and regional security challenges. Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff noted on X that the talks reaffirmed the robust defence cooperation and commitment to building enduring strategic synergy.
This visit underscores the growing India-Israel defence relationship, with both sides dedicated to countering terrorism and advancing military innovation, solidifying their strategic alliance.
