B Sudershan Reddy, the INDIA bloc’s candidate for Vice President, underscored the elevated constitutional significance of the Vice President’s office during a media interaction in Guwahati. Speaking to PTI, Reddy asserted that the role transcends mere politics, requiring qualities akin to those of a judge—impartiality, reason, and fairness in words and actions. “It is not a simple political institution,” he emphasized, outlining his vision for the office.
Reddy also highlighted the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) critical role as a constitutional body tasked with ensuring free and fair elections. He stressed that no individual should be excluded from participating in the electoral process, advocating for inclusivity. However, when questioned about the special intensive revision of electoral rolls, Reddy refrained from commenting, noting that the matter is under Supreme Court consideration and it would be “imprudent” to offer remarks.
Reddy’s statements reflect his commitment to upholding the sanctity of constitutional offices and ensuring electoral integrity, positioning him as a candidate focused on fairness and institutional dignity in the upcoming Vice Presidential election.
