The Government of India on 28 February 2026 issued a security advisory urging Indian nationals in Israel to exercise “utmost caution” amid sharply escalating regional tensions following recent strikes carried out by Israel and the United States against targets in Iran. The advisory reflects growing concerns about regional instability and the potential for further escalation that could affect foreign residents in the area.
The Embassy of India in Tel Aviv advised Indian citizens — including students, workers and travellers — to remain vigilant at all times and follow the safety instructions and emergency guidelines issued by Israeli authorities. It highlighted the need to stay informed of the latest updates from the Home Front Command, Israel’s national civil defence authority, and to familiarise themselves with nearby protected spaces and designated shelters where they can take cover if alerts or sirens are issued.
In its statement, the embassy strongly discouraged all non-essential travel within Israel until further notice, citing the “prevailing security situation in the region” and the fast-moving nature of the crisis. Indian nationals were urged to regularly monitor local news, official announcements, and emergency alerts to remain aware of changing conditions. The move underscores New Delhi’s emphasis on proactive safety measures for its citizens abroad amid the conflict dynamics.

To facilitate assistance during this period, the Indian mission activated a 24×7 helpline, providing a dedicated telephone number and email contact for consular support and emergency response. The embassy reaffirmed that it remains in close contact with Israeli and local authorities and would continue to issue updates as necessary to Indian nationals.
The advisory follows a broader pattern of travel warnings from multiple countries, with several governments also urging their citizens in the Middle East to exercise vigilance or consider departure due to rising security risks. These advisories come amid significant military developments in the region, which have heightened concerns about civilian safety and the possibility of conflict spill-over.
While there has been no official evacuation directive from India at this time, the government’s clear emphasis on caution and preparedness reflects the seriousness with which it views the situation. Indian authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are prepared to expand consular support should circumstances necessitate additional measures.
