Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu on Monday accorded a warm farewell to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Lok Bhawan, marking the conclusion of his three-year tenure in the state. The send-off ceremony brought together political leaders, senior officials, and prominent citizens in a gesture of respect and gratitude for the Governor’s service.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, members of the state Cabinet, and several public representatives. Governor Shukla received a ceremonial guard of honour, symbolizing recognition of his contributions to the governance and social initiatives in Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier in the day, an official farewell function was held where Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present. Secretary to the Governor, C.P. Verma, on behalf of Lok Bhawan employees, presented the Governor and the Lady Governor with traditional Himachali caps, shawls, and mementos as tokens of appreciation for their service.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Shukla fondly recalled his time in Himachal Pradesh, highlighting the support and cooperation of the Lok Bhawan staff and the wider public. Describing Himachal Pradesh as a “beautiful hill state” with hardworking and honest citizens, the Governor said he would always cherish the memories of his association with the state. The occasion reflected a spirit of warmth and mutual respect, with dignitaries expressing their best wishes for his future responsibilities.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt farewells from the staff of Lok Bhawan, who extended their good wishes to Governor Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla for their upcoming endeavours. The event highlighted both the personal rapport the Governor built in the state and the enduring appreciation for his guidance during his tenure.
