A devastating accident in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, claimed the lives of four pilgrims from Punjab and injured approximately 25 others on Friday when their pickup truck plunged into a deep gorge near Jadrangal. The victims were returning from the Mata Chamunda Devi temple to Moga, Punjab, when the vehicle lost control on the Chamunda-Dharamshala road near Ikku Mod.
Police reported that one woman died at the scene, while the injured were rushed to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital in Tanda. Three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, where the remaining victims are receiving treatment. The deceased were identified as Kiran (35), Sukhjinder Singh (35), Jagsir Singh (38), and Paramjeet Kaur (35), all residents of Bhagike village in Moga district.
Authorities promptly initiated rescue operations and have registered a case to investigate the cause of the accident. The tragedy has cast a pall over the community, highlighting the dangers of travel in the region’s treacherous terrains.
