Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, accusing it of corruption and mismanagement during a public address at an OBC Maha Sammelan held in Abohar. He described the ruling party as a “gang of looters” and claimed that its tenure in the state was nearing its end.
Addressing the gathering, Saini said recent municipal election results in Abohar reflected a growing political shift in Punjab in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He expressed confidence that the party would form the next government in the state, citing what he called increasing public dissatisfaction with the current administration.
The Haryana Chief Minister also targeted the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” calling it ineffective and alleging that it had failed to produce meaningful results on the ground. He claimed that the state government was focusing more on announcements and publicity rather than addressing core issues such as drug abuse and governance.

Saini further criticised the Punjab government’s welfare promises, including a proposed monthly financial assistance scheme for women. He alleged that the initiative had not been properly implemented and remained largely on paper, calling it a political promise that had not translated into action.
Comparing governance records, he cited employment generation figures and development initiatives in Haryana under the BJP government, claiming that his state had performed better in job creation. He also referred to central government policies for the OBC community, highlighting constitutional recognition for the National Commission for Backward Classes and increased reservation in higher education as key reforms.
Concluding his remarks, Saini reiterated his criticism of the Punjab government and asserted that political change was imminent in the state. He said public sentiment was shifting due to dissatisfaction with governance and development outcomes, while expressing confidence that the BJP would gain ground in the upcoming electoral cycle.
