Vinayak Chandel, a 48-year-old government counsel, died by suicide inside a courtroom in Wadwani, Beed district, Maharashtra, causing a stir among court staff and authorities. Chandel, appointed to the Wadwani court in January 2025, allegedly hanged himself with a rope in a court room, according to a police official. His body was discovered around 10:45 am when court staff arrived at the premises.
A suicide note was recovered, but its contents have not been disclosed pending further investigation, the official stated. The Beed police are probing the circumstances leading to Chandel’s death, with preliminary reports suggesting no foul play.
