Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday inaugurated the Dharavi Experience Centre near Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, offering residents and visitors a visual preview of the proposed redevelopment of Dharavi. The centre presents how the area could change through a combination of physical displays, digital technology and audio-visual presentations.
Located at H Block of PMGP Colony, the centre showcases plans for rehabilitated homes, industrial spaces and social infrastructure proposed as part of the redevelopment. It also traces Dharavi’s transition from its present form to the planned development, allowing visitors to view the proposed changes through interactive displays.
The facility is intended to give residents a clearer understanding of what the redevelopment could mean for their homes, neighbourhoods and workplaces. Rather than relying only on plans and blueprints, the centre uses visual and digital material to provide a more detailed representation of the proposed future layout.

Fadnavis said the experience centre would help address rumours, misconceptions and incomplete information surrounding the redevelopment project. He said residents would be able to use the facility to understand the changes planned for Dharavi and get answers to questions about their lives after redevelopment.
The chief minister also said the centre would provide information on Dharavi’s existing structure while showing how different parts of the area are expected to evolve. The displays cover not only residential rehabilitation but also industrial areas and social infrastructure planned as part of the wider transformation.
The inauguration gives residents an opportunity to see the proposed redevelopment in a more tangible form as the Dharavi project moves forward. The centre is expected to serve as a public-facing space where people can examine the plans and understand the proposed changes to homes, workplaces and neighbourhood infrastructure.
