German-Italian DJ Stella Bossi's performance at antiSOCIAL in Mumbai's Lower Parel was stopped after officials from the Maharashtra State Excise Department arrived at the venue and flagged a permit issue. Bossi was performing on Friday night when the officials intervened, bringing the event to an early end. The incident drew attention after the DJ shared footage of the interruption on her official Instagram account.

Bossi posted that she was around 50 minutes into her set when officials asked her to stop performing. In the post accompanying the video, she joked that authorities had "found the OFF button" and assured her followers that she would return to Mumbai soon. The incident initially led to confusion over whether Mumbai Police had halted the concert.

Mumbai Police later clarified that its personnel were not responsible for stopping the performance. The intervention was carried out by officials from the Maharashtra State Excise Department. Confusion reportedly arose because the Excise Department and police both use khaki uniforms, leading some people at the venue to believe that police officers had entered the pub.

According to the Excise Department, the organisers had not obtained the mandatory one-day club or party permit required for a large, ticketed event at the venue. The event had originally been planned for the Cruise Terminal in Ballard Estate, but after permissions for that location were not granted, organisers shifted it to antiSOCIAL in Lower Parel.

Officials reportedly found that the organisers had moved the event without obtaining the necessary venue-specific approvals and clearances. While antiSOCIAL has a regular permit-room licence allowing alcohol service, the Excise Department clarified that a large-capacity ticketed event requires separate permissions. Such approvals are intended to assess factors including venue capacity, floor area, emergency exits and fire-safety compliance.

The incident has highlighted the regulatory requirements involved in organising large-scale music and entertainment events in Mumbai. While Bossi's performance was cut short, the episode has also drawn attention to the need for organisers to secure all mandatory permits and venue-specific clearances before shifting or staging ticketed events.
