A former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President has been granted bail by a Kerala court after spending 90 days in judicial custody in connection with the alleged Sabarimala gold theft case. The court order comes amid an ongoing investigation into the reported misappropriation of gold offerings linked to the famed Sabarimala temple.
The case pertains to allegations that gold ornaments and offerings associated with the temple were unlawfully diverted or mismanaged during the accused’s tenure. Investigators had earlier registered a case following complaints and internal audits that flagged discrepancies in inventory and accounting records related to temple valuables.
The former TDB Chief was arrested as part of the probe and had remained in custody while authorities examined financial documents, inventory logs, and witness testimonies. The prosecution had argued that custodial interrogation was necessary to ascertain the chain of accountability and trace the movement of the gold in question.

Granting bail after the completion of the statutory 90-day period, the court reportedly imposed conditions, which may include surrendering the passport, cooperating with the investigation, and refraining from influencing witnesses. The case will now proceed through the judicial process as investigators continue to gather evidence.
The Sabarimala temple, one of the most prominent pilgrimage centres in India, receives substantial offerings each year, making financial transparency and oversight a matter of significant public interest. The outcome of the case is likely to be closely watched, given its implications for temple administration and governance standards within the Devaswom Board system.
