Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the people of the state on Sunday, emphasizing unity and harmony as the festival commenced.
Celebrated on March 31 across India, Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and reflection for Muslims worldwide.
Governor Patel, in a statement from Raj Bhavan, offered her best wishes, particularly to the Muslim community, calling Eid a symbol of "brotherhood, love, and social unity."
She urged citizens to support the underprivileged, stating, “Helping the poor and needy on this occasion can bring happiness to their lives and strengthen our society.” Her message underscored the festival’s role in fostering collective prosperity.
Echoing this sentiment, Chief Minister Adityanath described Eid-ul-Fitr as a celebration that "brings happiness and harmony." In an official release, he highlighted its power to reinforce social bonds and mutual brotherhood, adding, “This festival conveys a message of peace.”
Adityanath called on the people of Uttar Pradesh to pledge anew to enhance social harmony, reflecting his administration’s focus on unity.
The greetings come amid festive preparations across the state, with special prayers planned at key locations like Lucknow’s Eidgah and Tile Wali Masjid. Security has been tightened to ensure a peaceful celebration, building on past successes—such as in 2022, when Adityanath noted Eid prayers were held without incident, a trend he credited to cooperation from religious leaders.
As Uttar Pradesh joins the nation in marking Eid, the messages from Patel and Adityanath reflect a shared hope for a cohesive, prosperous future, aligning with the festival’s spirit of goodwill and togetherness.
