The Election Commission (EC) has identified over 5.76 lakh electors in Bihar registered at multiple locations and more than 12.55 lakh likely deceased, according to data from the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state’s voter list.
Additionally, of Bihar’s nearly 7.90 crore electors, over 35.69 lakh were not found at their registered addresses during house-to-house verification by booth-level officers. The EC also noted that 17.37 lakh electors are believed to have permanently relocated.
The EC stressed that these figures are preliminary and may change. On July 14, it announced that 6.60 crore electors, or 83.66% of the total, will be included in the draft electoral roll to be published on August 1.
To ensure accuracy, the EC is contacting temporarily migrated electors via newspaper advertisements and direct outreach, encouraging them to submit enumeration forms to secure their inclusion in the draft roll.
