India’s Eastern Command is set to conduct the major tri-service exercise 'Poorvi Prachand Prahar' from November 11 to 15 in Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh, just 30 km from the Line of Actual Control with China. The drill will integrate Army, Navy, and Air Force operations to test multi-domain combat readiness in high-altitude terrain. It marks the first deployment of new units like the Bhairav Light Combat Battalion, Ashni Infantry Platoon with drones, and Divyastra Artillery Batteries, raised under a cost-effective “Save and Raise” model.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said the exercise will validate joint tactics, interoperability, and command systems for future missions. Key features include Special Forces, unmanned platforms, precision weapons, and networked operations—tested for the first time at such heights. Five Bhairav Battalions are already active along India’s borders, equipped for rapid, high-impact strikes.
The drill builds on earlier exercises like 'Bhala Prahar' (2023) and 'Poorvi Prahar' (2024), and runs alongside 'Trishul' in the Western Sector. It focuses on refining high-altitude warfare doctrine amid evolving threats. Mechuka’s extreme conditions will challenge logistics, coordination, and technology integration across services.

Strategically located in the sensitive Eastern Sector, Arunachal hosts multiple disputed zones with China, including Yangtse and Tulung-la. The 1,346 km LAC stretch under Eastern Command also covers Sikkim and borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh. This exercise sends a strong message of readiness and deterrence.
'Poorvi Prachand Prahar' reflects India’s push toward integrated theater commands and modern, agile forces. By showcasing joint power near a tense frontier, the armed forces signal unified strength, operational maturity, and resolve to defend national sovereignty in any scenario.
