Panic gripped the Welcome area of northeast Delhi early Saturday morning when a four-storey building in Janta Colony near Idgah road crumbled, potentially trapping several people under the debris. The catastrophic collapse, reported at 7 AM, has sparked a frantic rescue operation as emergency teams race against time.
Three individuals have been pulled from the rubble and rushed to a nearby hospital, but fears are mounting for others still trapped. A senior police officer confirmed, "Some more people could be trapped under the debris." Local resident Asma recounted the horror: "I heard a loud noise and saw dust everywhere. Our neighbor’s home just collapsed. A family of 10 lived there, and only three have been rescued so far."
The Delhi Fire Service deployed seven fire tenders to the site, with Chief Atul Garg stating, "Search operations are ongoing to locate and save anyone still trapped." Quick-acting locals, out on their morning walks, became first responders, attempting rescues before fire officials arrived to assist.
