In a vibrant and heartfelt ceremony held at the Delhi Police Headquarters on September 3, 2025, the Delhi Police celebrated the remarkable contributions of 20 outstanding drivers from the Highway Hero Trust. These drivers were recognised for their exceptional commitment to road safety, impeccable vehicle maintenance, and tourist-friendly conduct, which have significantly enhanced the travel experience in the capital city.
The event, organised by the Delhi Police's Traffic Management Division, highlighted the pivotal role that taxi drivers play in shaping the first impressions of visitors to Delhi. Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic Management Division) Ajay Chaudhry led the ceremony, personally presenting awards to the honoured drivers, who included Kavita, Tulsi, Roop Mohan, and Sanver Khan, among others. Each driver, a proud vehicle owner and dedicated member of the Highway Hero Trust, was commended for their adherence to traffic regulations, exemplary professionalism, and efforts to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for commuters and tourists alike.
In his address, Special Commissioner Chaudhry underscored the importance of responsible driving in a bustling metropolis like Delhi. "Taxi drivers are often the first point of contact for visitors arriving in our city," he remarked. "Your commitment to road safety, vehicle cleanliness, and courteous behaviour not only ensures safer roads but also leaves a lasting positive impression on tourists, showcasing Delhi’s hospitality." He urged the drivers to continue upholding traffic rules and to serve as role models for others in the profession.

The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including Special Commissioner of Police K. Jegadesan, IAS officer D. Karthikeyan, and Delhi Tourism General Manager Meenakshi Sharma. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between the Delhi Police, the tourism sector, and community organisations like the Highway Hero Trust to promote safer and more hospitable roads in the capital. Senior traffic police officials also attended, joining in the celebration of these "Highway Heroes" who have set a benchmark for excellence in their profession.
