The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and light to moderate rainfall. The weather system is expected to remain active through the day, bringing temporary relief from the intense heat that has gripped the region in recent days.
According to the IMD forecast, Delhi-NCR is likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning during the morning, forenoon, and night hours. Light rain activity is expected to be widespread across several parts of the region, with weather conditions likely to remain unstable throughout the day.
The department has warned that strong winds during the thunderstorms could lead to minor disruptions, including uprooted trees, damage to weak structures, and traffic congestion in some areas. Residents have been advised to avoid open spaces during storm activity and not to take shelter under trees during lightning conditions.

Temperature levels are expected to moderate slightly due to the rain-bearing system. The maximum temperature on Friday is likely to settle around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to remain at 26 degrees Celsius, offering some respite from the prevailing heatwave-like conditions.
The IMD has also indicated that similar thunderstorm activity may continue on June 6, though no specific weather warning has been issued for that day. From June 7 onwards, clearer skies are expected to return, with temperatures gradually rising again and reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius by June 9 and 10.
Meteorological officials continue to monitor evolving weather patterns across the region and have urged residents to stay updated with advisories, as the brief spell of rain and thunderstorms is likely to be followed by a return to hotter and more stable weather conditions.
