Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Monday directed officials from Delhi Police, the Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Fire Service and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to ensure faster action on safety-related matters requiring coordination between multiple agencies.

Sandhu chaired a coordination meeting involving the Delhi government, Delhi Police, DDA, MCD and Delhi Fire Service, with a focus on civic and administrative priorities linked to public safety. He stressed the need for agencies to work together rather than operate separately, particularly in matters requiring joint intervention and quick implementation.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor stressed a “whole of government” approach and called for time-bound activities, clear accountability and quicker results on the ground. The directions were aimed at ensuring coordinated implementation of safety-related priorities and improving the management of civic issues across the national capital.

The meeting came after Sandhu reviewed the progress of reforms aimed at reducing the compliance burden on citizens and improving ease of living in Delhi. He directed departments to complete deregulation and compliance-reduction measures efficiently, with a focus on reducing procedural delays, speeding up approvals and making government systems more accessible to residents.

Earlier, Sandhu also met Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to review specialised community policing initiatives, public welfare platforms and targeted safety measures being implemented across the National Capital Territory. The discussions covered efforts to strengthen security and encourage greater community participation in safety-related initiatives.

The Lieutenant Governor has linked these administrative and safety measures with the broader objective of developing a better-managed Delhi. The latest directions place emphasis on inter-agency coordination, defined responsibilities and timely implementation, with officials expected to focus on delivering visible outcomes on civic and public safety priorities.
