A 21-year-old woman who was injured during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in Delhi has been taken off ventilator support and is showing signs of recovery, according to a health bulletin issued by Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Wednesday. The hospital confirmed that the woman is fully conscious and responding to doctors’ instructions. She is now breathing on her own, indicating improvement in her condition. Doctors also said that Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans of her brain and spine showed no abnormalities.

RML Hospital stated that the woman’s condition has improved consistently since she was admitted for treatment on Monday. She continues to remain under medical observation and is receiving necessary care from doctors and healthcare staff. The woman was injured during a protest organised at Jantar Mantar in Delhi over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy. Thousands of students and supporters had gathered for a ‘Sansad Chalo’ march, demanding accountability and action from the government.

According to sources, around 90 students sustained injuries during the protest in the national capital. The 21-year-old woman is currently the only person admitted to RML Hospital in connection with the incident, while other injured protesters have reportedly been discharged after receiving medical attention. The incident has triggered political reactions, with opposition parties criticising the handling of the protest and questioning the alleged use of force against students. Several leaders have demanded an inquiry into the events surrounding the demonstration and sought accountability from authorities.
