Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Central government has sanctioned Rs 821.26 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme to fast-track Delhi’s transformation into a “developed” capital. With 66% of the funds already released as the first instalment, the Delhi government is set to kick off critical projects immediately, Gupta stated.
The allocation, approved by the Union Finance Ministry, includes Rs 716 crore for 33 major infrastructure projects under Part-I of the SASCI scheme, targeting health, education, housing, drinking water, electricity, and transport. An additional Rs 105.26 crore under Part-III will support the Priority Corridor of MRTS Phase-IV, enhancing urban mobility. Gupta expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, emphasizing that the funds align with Modi’s vision of a “developed India.”
Following her July meeting with Sitharaman, where Gupta detailed Delhi’s ongoing schemes and future needs, the proposals were submitted via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) portal, ensuring swift approval. The chief minister highlighted that these projects will bolster public services, create jobs, and drive economic growth. Gupta assured transparent, time-bound implementation to deliver tangible benefits to Delhi’s citizens, reinforcing the city’s role as India’s cultural, administrative, and economic hub.
