In a chilling daytime attack, a 42-year-old man was shot dead near the Tibetan Market in Dehradun on Wednesday morning. Police identified the victim as Arjun Sharma, a resident of Indira Nagar in the Vasant Vihar area, who was standing near his car when the assailants struck.
According to Dehradun City Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar, two unidentified attackers arrived on a scooter and opened fire on Sharma around 10.30 a.m. The injured victim was rushed to Doon Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Sharma, who owned Amardeep Gas Agency, was embroiled in a family dispute concerning the business. Officials noted that Sharma’s mother had earlier approached the Uttarakhand High Court seeking protection, citing fears for her life from her son.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh immediately constituted dedicated teams to trace the attackers. He also directed continuous and intensive investigations across the district, emphasizing swift action to apprehend those responsible.
This incident marks the second murder reported in Dehradun within ten days. On February 2, a 22-year-old woman was killed in Machhi Bazaar, highlighting growing concerns over violent crimes in the city. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information regarding the suspects. Police are examining CCTV footage, interviewing witnesses, and following leads in an attempt to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.
