Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala has been targeted with a menacing death threat, prompting his son, Karan Chautala, to file a police complaint in Chandigarh. The threat, delivered via a WhatsApp voice message from an unknown foreign number, warned Abhay to "stay out of their way" or face dire consequences, chillingly referencing the unsolved murder of INLD state president Nafe Singh Rathee, gunned down in Bahadurgarh in February 2024.
Karan revealed to the press that the threat came late Tuesday night around 11 pm. Initially, an unknown caller briefly connected via WhatsApp before hanging up. Shortly after, a voice message laced with abusive language was sent, explicitly threatening Abhay’s life. The same number also messaged Abhay’s private secretary, labeling the threat a "final warning." Karan promptly lodged a complaint with Chandigarh police, urging them to trace the culprit and ensure his family’s safety.
This isn’t the first time Abhay has faced such intimidation. In July 2023, a similar threat led to a police case and Y-category security being assigned to the INLD chief. Despite the recurring dangers, Karan emphasized that the family remains undeterred. "We will not be silenced," he declared, vowing to continue addressing critical issues like Haryana’s worsening law-and-order situation and the rampant drug crisis.

The Chautala family has been vocal about the state’s deteriorating security, especially after the unresolved killing of Nafe Singh Rathee. MLA Arjun Chautala condemned the rising lawlessness, stating, "Haryana cannot become a gangster state. We will keep fighting for the people, no matter the threats."
Abhay, the younger son of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, has been a prominent figure in state politics, notably leading the "Parivartan Padyatra" in 2023 to rally public support. The latest threat has raised alarm, with Karan demanding swift police action to protect his family and bring the perpetrator to justice.
As Haryana grapples with escalating concerns over crime and governance, the Chautalas’ resolve to confront these issues head-on remains unshaken. The police are now under pressure to investigate and prevent any harm to the INLD leader and his family.
