A fierce gunfight erupted in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of two Maoists and a CRPF CoBRA jawan in Birhordera forest under Gomia police station. The clash began around 5:30 AM when security forces, acting on intelligence about Maoist presence, engaged in a heavy exchange of fire.
IG (Bokaro Zone) Kranthi Kumar Gadidesi confirmed that security forces neutralized two Maoists, one identified as Kunwar Majhi, a sub-zonal commander with a ₹25 lakh bounty. An AK-47 was recovered from the site. The fallen CoBRA jawan sustained critical injuries and died en route to medical care.
Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh reported ongoing search operations to locate other Maoists potentially hiding in the dense forest. The identities of the deceased Maoists are being verified as part of Jharkhand Police’s intensified anti-Naxal campaign, aiming to eliminate Maoist influence by year-end.
