NDA candidate C. P. Radhakrishnan secured victory in the vice presidential election with 452 votes, defeating opposition nominee B. Sudershan Reddy, who received 300 votes, amid a high turnout of 98.2%.
C P Radhakrishnan, the NDA candidate, was declared the winner of India's vice presidential election on September 9, 2025, polling 452 first-preference votes against 300 votes for opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy. Returning Officer P. C. Mody announced the results, confirming Radhakrishnan's election after a total of 767 MPs cast their ballots out of an electoral college of 781 eligible members.
With 752 valid votes and 15 invalid ones, including one cancelled postal ballot, Radhakrishnan's victory suggests possible cross-voting, as BJP leaders claimed at least 15 opposition members supported him, despite Congress assertions of unity.
The election saw a turnout of 98.2%, highlighting strong participation from the 245 Rajya Sabha and 543 Lok Sabha members, along with 12 nominated Rajya Sabha members, though vacancies reduced the effective strength to 781. This poll was necessitated by the resignation of incumbent Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on July 21, 2025, prompting the need for a new election.
