A young couple was found dead inside a parked car in Madhya Pradesh's Ashoknagar district on Thursday, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Authorities said they are examining both homicide and suicide angles after recovering the bodies with visible injuries. Three mobile phones were also found approximately 50 feet away from the vehicle, adding another dimension to the ongoing investigation.
The deceased have been identified as Ritik Soni and Muskan, both residents of Ashoknagar. According to police, Ritik was found seated in the driver's seat with a gunshot wound to his head and burn injuries on his face. Muskan was discovered in the front passenger seat with her throat slit. The nature of the injuries has led investigators to consider multiple possibilities while reconstructing the sequence of events.
Police said Muskan had left her home on Wednesday afternoon, informing her family that she was going to the gym. When she failed to return and repeated attempts to contact her proved unsuccessful, her family lodged a missing person complaint at the Kotwali police station. The subsequent search eventually led authorities to the parked vehicle where the bodies were recovered.

During the examination of the crime scene, investigators recovered three mobile phones lying about 50 feet away from the car. Forensic experts are expected to analyse the devices along with other evidence collected from the vehicle and surrounding area to establish the circumstances leading to the deaths. Police are also gathering statements from family members, friends and other individuals who may have had recent contact with the victims.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials said the reports will help determine the exact cause and time of death. Forensic evidence, ballistic analysis and medical findings are expected to play a crucial role in establishing whether the case involves murder, suicide or another sequence of events. Investigators have not ruled out any possibility at this stage.
Police have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation remains underway. Officials said all available evidence is being examined thoroughly and appropriate action will be taken once the forensic reports and other investigative findings are received. The case continues to be under active investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances behind the deaths of the couple.
