Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a rally in Ahmedabad, accusing it of fostering India’s dependency on foreign nations through “import scams” during its 60-65 years of rule.
Addressing a large gathering after a 2-km roadshow in Ahmedabad, Modi invoked the legacies of “Sudarshan Chakradhari” Lord Krishna, symbolizing strength, and “Charkhadhari” Mahatma Gandhi, who championed swadeshi. He urged businesses to embrace self-reliance by displaying “swadeshi” boards and promoting made-in-India goods, aligning with his vision for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. “All of us should follow the mantra of buying only ‘made in India’ goods,” he emphasized, calling for a cultural shift toward economic independence.

The Prime Minister celebrated his government’s achievements, noting that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty over the past 11 years under BJP-led rule. He reiterated his commitment to improving living conditions for the urban poor, citing projects like the inauguration of 1,449 houses and 130 shops for slum dwellers in Ahmedabad’s Ramapir Tekra.
Modi also launched infrastructure initiatives worth Rs 5,477 crore, including railway upgrades and urban development projects, reinforcing Gujarat’s transformation into a safe and thriving commercial hub.
As the U.S. tariff deadline looms, Modi’s defiant stance and push for swadeshi signal a broader strategy to safeguard India’s economic interests while fostering national pride and self-reliance.
