Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Saturday emphasized that the Indian Armed Forces are committed to adapting to the rapidly changing environment of modern warfare. Addressing the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) of the 216 Course at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, he said reforms and innovation are essential to ensure that India’s military remains ready, relevant, and resilient.
Speaking to newly commissioned officers, General Chauhan highlighted that India’s strength rests on its robust institutions, democratic stability, and the professionalism of its armed forces. He noted that while the intensity of operations may have decreased, efforts like Operation Sindoor continue, reflecting India’s constant operational vigilance and preparedness.
The CDS underlined that the new officers are joining the Air Force during a period of profound transformation in the Indian Armed Forces. “Integrated structures, joint operations, and the pursuit of Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence are shaping the future of India’s military strength,” he stated, stressing that modernization is crucial to keeping pace with global security challenges.

General Chauhan elaborated on his vision for the officers’ journey, linking it to the acronym of “Jai” in Jai Hind. “J” stands for jointness, promoting unity across forces; “A” represents Atmanirbhar Bharat, emphasizing self-reliance and indigenous platforms; and “I” signifies innovation, encouraging officers to think ahead and remain at the forefront of military strategy and technology.
Highlighting the evolving nature of warfare, he said that battles in traditional domains will always be contested and often brutal, but future conflicts in new domains will demand intellect, speed, and innovation. Mastery over these emerging areas, he noted, will be a decisive factor in determining the outcome of future engagements.
General Chauhan concluded by urging the new officers to embrace the challenges ahead with courage, adaptability, and foresight. He reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to maintaining India’s strategic edge and ensuring the nation’s security through a combination of professionalism, innovation, and operational excellence.
