Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday reiterated that the Babri mosque will never be rebuilt, delivering a firm message during a public meeting in Barabanki. The CM emphasized that both his government and the Modi administration remained committed to fulfilling the Ram Mandir pledge long championed by the BJP.
“Babri mosque will never be rebuilt till eternity, that day will never come,” Yogi asserted before a large crowd, underlining the government’s stance on a historically sensitive and divisive issue. His remarks are expected to intensify political discourse ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
The statement comes in response to former Trinamool legislator Humayun Kabir’s pledge to construct a replica of the Babri mosque in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Kabir, who was suspended from TMC, had laid the foundation stone for the structure on December 6, 2025, coinciding with the anniversary of the Ayodhya demolition.

CM Yogi reinforced the continuity of the Sanatan tradition in India and cautioned that efforts to resurrect the Babri mosque will never succeed. Analysts note that such statements could energize the BJP’s core voter base while setting the stage for heightened political tensions in West Bengal.
Kabir, after his exit from TMC, formed the Janata Unnayan Party (JUP) and announced plans to contest around 135 Assembly seats. The BJP has repeatedly described him as the “B-team” of the ruling TMC, further intensifying electoral rivalries ahead of the polls.
Observers say Yogi’s strong messaging on the Babri issue reflects a strategy to consolidate his party’s position and influence debates on communal and cultural narratives as electoral campaigns gain momentum across the region.
