A light-hearted yet thought-provoking incident from Pune has captured widespread attention online after a 19-year-old local resident, Mihir Gahukar, and his friend found themselves locked out on a balcony at around 3 am and called a Blinkit delivery person for rescue. The video of the unusual rescue, which Mihir posted on Instagram about a week after the event, quickly went viral, showcasing the creativity of the two young men in a moment of minor crisis. Mihir later opened up about the sequence of events, describing it as a funny turn of events rather than a planned stunt.
The mishap occurred a few days before New Year when Mihir and his friend returned to the latter’s new house after dinner to pick up something before heading out again. While exploring the balcony through a sliding door, they accidentally locked themselves out. With the friend’s parents asleep in the bedroom, the duo hesitated to wake them, fearing a scolding for being out late. Instead, they brainstormed who could arrive the fastest to unlock the door from inside, ruling out distant friends who might also be sleeping.
In a moment of quick thinking, they decided to order from Blinkit, knowing the front door had been left open for their return. The delivery person arrived remarkably fast—within about seven minutes—and helped them regain access. Mihir and his friend expressed gratitude by tipping the delivery executive generously and sharing the food they had ordered. Mihir later reflected on the irony, noting that delivery services in India often reach faster than emergency services, calling it “a problem actually.”

Mihir admitted he never anticipated the video gaining such massive traction. Since going viral, he has received numerous calls and messages, with his Instagram engagement surging significantly. He views the positive response as heartwarming, believing it restores faith in humanity and highlights the reliability of quick-service delivery personnel in unexpected situations. The incident, while amusing, has sparked wider online discussions about urban life, late-night mishaps, and the speed of modern delivery networks in Indian cities.
