Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu extended greetings to the people of Bihar on the occasion of Bihar Diwas 2026, highlighting the state’s cultural legacy and its ongoing journey toward development. The leaders acknowledged Bihar’s historical significance and praised its contribution to India’s heritage.
In a message shared on social media, Modi said Bihar has “enriched Indian heritage with its grandeur and divinity” and noted that the state continues to write new chapters of progress. He expressed confidence that the hard-working and energetic people of Bihar would play a key role in achieving the vision of a developed state alongside a developed India.
Bihar Diwas is observed annually on March 22 to mark the formation of the state in 1912, when it was carved out from the Bengal Presidency during British rule. The day is celebrated across the state with cultural programmes, public events, and official ceremonies that reflect Bihar’s rich traditions, history, and socio-economic aspirations.
