A Bihar court on Saturday granted interim relief to educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, during the hearing of his anticipatory bail plea in connection with the coaching institute firing case. The court directed the police to maintain a "no coercive action" stance, ensuring that no harsh action or arrest is taken against Faisal Khan until the next hearing.
The relief comes after Patna Police registered an FIR against Faisal Khan and two others over a firing and vandalism incident that took place outside the Khan Global Studies coaching institute on June 2. The case was filed days after a group of people allegedly attacked the institute, vandalised the premises and pelted stones, triggering a police investigation into the sequence of events.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the City Superintendent of Police (Central), the incident occurred at around 10:10 pm on June 2. During the investigation, police recovered a video that allegedly showed two individuals firing shots into the air after the vandalism. After verifying the footage, authorities identified and detained two security guards associated with the coaching institute.

Police said the investigation and recovery of weapons led to the inclusion of Faisal Khan and two others in the FIR under charges related to abetment and provisions of the Arms Act. Officials maintained that the action was based on evidence collected during the probe and the sequence of events established by the investigating team.
The Patna Police also appealed to students not to become involved in rivalries among coaching institutes or be influenced by competition between educational centres. In its statement, the police stressed that maintaining law and order remains the top priority and warned that no compromise would be made in dealing with criminal activities linked to such disputes.
With the court extending interim protection, Faisal Khan will not face coercive action until the matter is heard again. Meanwhile, the investigation into the firing and vandalism case continues, with police examining available evidence and pursuing legal proceedings against all individuals named in the FIR while maintaining heightened security around the coaching institute.
