A portrait gifted to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary by a Patna-based builder has gone viral on social media, triggering a flood of humorous reactions and memes online. The artwork, presented during a meeting between the chief minister and builder Sanjeev Shrivastav, quickly became a talking point after users compared it to the famously comical paintings associated with the fictional character Majnu Bhai from the Bollywood film Welcome.
The controversy began after Sanjeev Shrivastav shared photographs from his meeting with the Bihar chief minister on Instagram on Tuesday. In the images, Shrivastav was seen presenting several gifts and memorabilia to Choudhary, including the now-viral portrait. While the post initially featured multiple photographs from the interaction, social media users later claimed that the specific image showing the portrait was removed following widespread online trolling and criticism.
The portrait drew immediate attention for its caricature-like appearance, with many users questioning the quality of the artwork while also appreciating the chief minister’s calm reaction. Several social media users joked that the painting resembled the exaggerated artistic style associated with Majnu Bhai, a comic character played by Anil Kapoor in the film. One viral post remarked that “Majnu Bhai would be proud,” while others suggested the incident had unintentionally created one of the internet’s funniest political moments of the week.

Political organisations and users across social media platforms also joined the discussion. The Indian Youth Congress shared a close-up image of the portrait on X with the caption “Guess Who?”, apparently mocking the artwork’s resemblance to the Bihar chief minister. Other users commented that the episode demonstrated Samrat Choudhary’s tolerance and composure, with some noting that he graciously accepted the gift despite the online ridicule surrounding it.
Alongside the portrait controversy, other social media clips allegedly linked to the builder also began circulating online. One viral reel reportedly showed Shrivastav entering a room while smoking and being accompanied by staff members. These clips further intensified public curiosity around the businessman, although there has been no official comment from either Shrivastav or the Bihar Chief Minister’s Office regarding the viral reactions.
Samrat Choudhary was sworn in as Bihar’s 24th chief minister last month, becoming the first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party to hold the top post in the state. He took oath in the presence of senior NDA leaders, including Nitish Kumar, JP Nadda, and Chirag Paswan. While the viral portrait episode may have started as a routine ceremonial exchange, it has since evolved into one of the most widely discussed political social media moments of the day.
