Bengaluru police have apprehended a man accused of repeatedly targeting and harassing women across the city over the past month. The Kamakshipalya police arrested the accused, identified as Vinod, following a complaint lodged by a 42-year-old woman on December 2 near Srinivasa Circle at Sunkadakatte.
According to police, Vinod specifically targeted women traveling alone after 6 p.m., attacking pedestrians and women riding bikes. He reportedly forced hugs on women walking alone and grabbed female riders when they slowed down due to potholes, indulging in vulgar and perverse acts.
The arrest came after the victim called the emergency number 112 and, with assistance from Hoysala police, Vinod was caught. During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to committing similar acts over the past month, taking advantage of the absence of previous complaints.

Vinod is currently in police custody, and authorities have booked him under Sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The police are investigating to determine the full scope of his actions and identify any additional victims.
This incident follows a similar case in November, where a Bengaluru bike taxi rider was charged with attempting to grab a woman passenger’s legs during a ride. The woman recorded the incident and later went to the police, highlighting the growing concern over harassment in public and ride-sharing spaces.
Authorities have urged women to report harassment immediately and have reinforced patrolling in vulnerable areas. The police stressed that repeated vigilance and legal action are necessary to ensure the safety of women in the city.
