Traffic restrictions and diversions will be implemented across several parts of Bengaluru on Wednesday, August 26, in view of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations and processions. The arrangements have been made to regulate vehicle movement and manage congestion as large numbers of people are expected to participate in the celebrations.
Members of the Muslim community are expected to gather at the YMCA Ground on Nrupatunga Road between noon and 11 pm. Police have identified several roads where traffic congestion is likely during the celebrations, including JC Road, KG Road, Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, Kasturba Road, Mallya Hospital Road, RT Nagar Main Road, Dinnur Main Road, Jayamahal Road, Nagawara Main Road, Tannery Main Road and the Haines Road-Miller's Road stretch.
Vehicles travelling from Mysuru Road towards Majestic will be diverted through Nayandahalli Junction, Nagarabhavi Circle, Madduramma Temple, Chandra Layout Junction, R.P.C. Layout Junction, West of Chord Road, Vijayanagar Metro Station, Toll Gate Junction, Prasanna Junction, Hunasemara Junction, Lulu Mall, Okalipuram Junction and Khode Junction before proceeding towards Majestic. Commuters from Mysuru Road can also use Vijayanagar and Magadi Road to reach Majestic.

Additional diversions will be introduced around Market Circle, Town Hall, KR Road and SJP Road as the procession moves through the city. Heavy goods vehicles will face entry restrictions on selected routes between noon and 11 pm. Authorities have also identified stretches where parking will be prohibited, including Queen's Road and parts of Cubbon Park, as part of the traffic management arrangements.
Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Mawlid, is observed on the 12th day of Rabi' al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar. The occasion commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and holds religious significance for Muslims worldwide. It is traditionally marked through prayers, gatherings and community events centred on the Prophet's life and teachings.
The Bengaluru traffic arrangements are intended to facilitate the movement of celebratory processions while reducing disruption for other road users. Commuters travelling through the affected corridors are expected to account for possible delays and follow traffic diversions and restrictions in place during the celebrations.
