Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday extended support to students protesting in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, urging the state government to address their concerns through a transparent and fair process. In a post on social media platform X, Sarma said he had closely observed the grievances of recruitment aspirants during the Jharkhand Assembly election campaign and asserted that their demands deserved an impartial hearing.

The Chief Minister said the unrest could have been avoided had the Jharkhand government responded promptly and sensitively to the complaints raised by candidates. According to him, timely action and greater transparency in handling allegations related to recruitment examinations would have helped restore confidence among job aspirants. He also alleged that repeated claims of question paper leaks and examination irregularities had created uncertainty for a large number of young people seeking government employment.

Expressing what he described as his "moral support" for the students' movement, Sarma urged the Jharkhand government to accept the legitimate demands of the protesters and ensure justice. He said the future of the state's youth should not be compromised and called on the administration to take immediate steps to resolve the issue. "Injustice with the future of the youth cannot be acceptable at any cost," he said.

Sarma's remarks come as protests continue in Ranchi, where students have been demonstrating against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). The protests have drawn attention to concerns over transparency and fairness in the state's recruitment process, with candidates demanding corrective action from the authorities.

Among the key demands raised by the protesters are the cancellation of the 14th JPSC Combined Preliminary Examination conducted on April 19 and an independent investigation into the alleged irregularities. The students have sought probes by central agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), alleging that a thorough inquiry is necessary to restore confidence in the recruitment system. The Jharkhand government has yet to announce any decision on these demands.
