Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the state’s advancements in socio-economic indicators and the near-complete implementation of major welfare schemes. In a post on X, Sarma expressed his honor in meeting the Prime Minister, stating, “Had the privilege of calling upon Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji in New Delhi today.”
Sarma briefed Modi on Assam’s significant progress in key areas, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure, emphasizing the near saturation of flagship welfare programs aimed at uplifting the state’s populace. He also extended an invitation on behalf of Assam’s people for Modi’s upcoming visit on September 8, which will mark a significant moment for the state.
The Prime Minister’s visit will kick off the year-long centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and include the inauguration of India’s first bio-ethanol plant at Numaligarh in Golaghat district, a milestone in Assam’s sustainable development journey.
