The Indian Army welcomed its first batch of three AH-64E Apache attack helicopters from the United States, landing at Hindon Airbase on Tuesday. These advanced choppers, manufactured by Boeing, will undergo assembly, Joint Receipt Inspection, and induction before deployment in Jodhpur, officials told India TV.
Renowned as one of the world’s most sophisticated attack helicopters, the Apache is equipped with a 30 mm chain gun, laser- and radar-guided Hellfire missiles, and rocket pods for precision strikes in combat zones.
Featuring Longbow radar for threat detection and tracking, the Apaches enhance India’s military capabilities. This acquisition follows a 2015 deal for 22 Apaches for the Indian Air Force, with these six bolstering the Army’s Aviation Corps.
The Army also signed a contract last year for 25 ALH Dhruv Mk III helicopters, part of a Rs 8073.17 crore deal with the Indian Coast Guard for 34 ALHs, advancing India’s defense indigenization efforts.
