Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu on a two-day visit to review security and developmental initiatives across the region. His visit underscores the government’s focus on strengthening border management and ensuring the welfare of security personnel deployed in sensitive areas.
Shah inspected the border outposts of Gurnam and Bobiyian in the Hiranagar sector, interacting with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel guarding the frontier. He e-inaugurated six welfare schemes for BSF staff and laid the e-foundation for additional programs aimed at improving facilities and support for frontline personnel.
During his visit, Shah also reviewed repairs to BSF infrastructure damaged in last year’s monsoon floods. Officials highlighted the importance of resilient infrastructure in ensuring operational readiness along the border and maintaining morale among security forces.

The Home Minister chaired a security review meeting at Lok Bhawan with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and top security officials. The discussions included updates on ongoing counter-terror operations across Jammu to neutralize terrorist threats and strengthen regional safety.
Ahead of Shah’s arrival, security forces conducted operations in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts, eliminating three top Jaish-e-Mohammed commanders. These Pakistani terrorists had been active in the region for over a year, and their elimination has provided relief to local communities living under constant threat.
Shah also distributed compassionate appointment letters to families of martyrs and met with the bereaved at Lok Bhawan. Tomorrow, he will chair a development review meeting with LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, focusing on Jammu’s progress and upcoming infrastructure projects.
