An Air India Express flight bound for Doha from Calicut International Airport was forced to return two hours after takeoff on Wednesday due to a technical fault in the aircraft’s cabin air conditioning system. Flight IX 375, carrying 188 passengers and crew, departed at 9:07 AM but landed back at Calicut by 11:12 AM, according to airport officials.
An official clarified that the return was not an emergency landing but a precautionary measure prompted by the AC malfunction. All passengers were deboarded, and arrangements for food and water were provided at the airport. An Air India Express spokesperson confirmed that the airline is working to either resolve the technical issue or arrange an alternative flight by 1:30 PM to ensure passengers can resume their journey.
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about air safety, with the airline prioritizing passenger comfort and safety during the delay.
