Asia's largest airshow, Aero India-2027, will be held at Bengaluru's Yelahanka Air Force Station from February 8 to 12, as India looks to further strengthen its position as a global hub for defence manufacturing and expand its defence exports. The 16th edition of the biennial event is expected to be the largest edition so far, reflecting the growing international interest in India's aerospace and defence capabilities.
According to officials aware of the development, the upcoming edition of Aero India will bring together leading aerospace companies, defence manufacturers, military representatives and industry experts from India and across the world. The five-day event will serve as a platform for showcasing advanced aviation technologies, promoting defence collaborations and encouraging partnerships between Indian and foreign companies in the aerospace sector.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will act as the nodal agency for organising Aero India-2027 on behalf of the Defence Ministry's Department of Defence Production. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) will support the event, with both public sector defence companies already assigned responsibilities to ensure the smooth execution of the airshow. The event is expected to play a key role in highlighting India's progress in indigenous defence production and strengthening its aerospace ecosystem.

Aero India has emerged as one of the world's leading aerospace exhibitions, providing an important platform for governments, defence organisations and private companies to explore cooperation opportunities. The 2027 edition is expected to feature aircraft displays, defence equipment demonstrations, technology showcases and business meetings aimed at promoting investment and innovation in India's aviation and defence sectors.
The upcoming airshow comes at a time when the Indian government is intensifying efforts to increase domestic defence manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports. According to Defence Ministry data, India's annual defence production reached a record ₹1.78 lakh crore in the financial year 2025-26, registering a growth of 15.6 per cent compared with ₹1.54 lakh crore in the previous fiscal year. The figure represents a significant rise from ₹84,643 crore in FY 2020-21, marking a 110 per cent increase over five years.
The government has also been focusing on expanding defence exports by encouraging private sector participation, improving manufacturing capabilities and promoting indigenous development of military platforms and equipment. Aero India-2027 is expected to support these objectives by creating opportunities for Indian companies to showcase their products, attract global partnerships and explore new markets.
With its growing scale and international participation, Aero India continues to serve as a key event for India's defence and aerospace ambitions. The 2027 edition is likely to further showcase the country's transformation from a defence importer towards a major manufacturing and export-oriented player in the global defence industry.
