Telugu actor and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Posani Krishna Murali has been granted bail in all 17 cases filed against him across Andhra Pradesh for alleged derogatory remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and IT Minister Nara Lokesh. The final relief came Tuesday from a Kurnool court, capping a tumultuous legal ordeal that began with his arrest on February 26, 2025, in Hyderabad.
The Additional Junior Civil Judge Court in Kurnool approved bail on a Rs 20,000 bond with two sureties, following similar rulings in Vijayawada, Narsaraopet, and Rajampet. Vijayawada’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate had earlier remanded him until March 20.
Arrested for allegedly inciting social discord, Posani was shuttled across the state—Hyderabad to Annamayya, Rajampet, Narsaraopet, Guntur, Adoni, and back to Vijayawada—before landing in Kurnool jail on prisoner transit (PT) warrants.
The YSRCP decried the cases as political vendetta by the Naidu-led NDA government, accusing it of orchestrating a “harassment campaign” against the 67-year-old, who suffers from heart and health issues. They claim police withheld case details to delay bail, forcing him to travel hundreds of kilometers. “This was a deliberate attempt to worsen his condition,” the party alleged.
A High Court petition by YSRCP’s legal cell halted investigations in a Visakhapatnam case and mandated notices for others, paving the way for Posani’s release. With bail now secured in all cases, he is expected to walk free Wednesday.
