At least 17 people were killed and 18 others injured in a devastating explosion at an explosives manufacturing factory in Raulgaon, Katol tehsil of Nagpur district, on Sunday morning, officials confirmed. The blast occurred at the SBL Energy Limited facility, a mining and industrial explosives company, and has left the area severely damaged, with debris scattered across the site. Local authorities and emergency teams rushed to the scene to begin rescue operations immediately after the incident.
According to police, the explosion took place between 7 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. at the factory’s detonator packing unit. The force of the blast caused significant structural damage to the facility, trapping several workers under debris. Authorities confirmed that the casualties included both fatalities and seriously injured employees, many of whom were rushed to hospitals in Nagpur for urgent medical care.
A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arrived at the site to assist in search and rescue operations.
