Kuwait activated its air defense systems on Saturday after reporting incoming missile and drone threats, while neighboring Bahrain sounded warning sirens and advised residents to move to secure locations. The developments heightened concerns over regional security as Gulf nations remained on alert amid escalating tensions linked to the ongoing confrontation involving Iran and the United States.
In an official statement shared on social media, Kuwait's military said its air defense units were actively engaging hostile aerial targets. Authorities indicated that any loud explosions heard across the country were likely the result of interception operations being carried out by defense systems. Residents were urged to remain calm and follow all safety instructions issued by government agencies.
The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army stated that air defense forces were working to neutralize incoming threats and protect critical infrastructure. Officials emphasized that the sounds of explosions did not necessarily indicate successful strikes on the ground but were largely associated with defensive measures taken to intercept missiles and drones before they could reach their intended targets.

At nearly the same time, Bahrain's Ministry of Interior confirmed that warning sirens had been activated across the kingdom. The ministry advised both citizens and residents to remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe shelter. Emergency authorities continued to monitor the situation while coordinating precautionary measures aimed at safeguarding the population.
The latest alerts come only days after a deadly drone attack on Kuwait International Airport that intensified fears of a widening regional conflict. According to Kuwaiti authorities, the strike targeted Terminal 1, resulting in the death of an Indian national and injuries to several others. The attack caused significant damage to airport facilities, disrupted flight operations, and forced temporary air traffic suspensions and diversions.
Officials said dozens of injured individuals, including travelers, airport workers, and civilians, were treated at hospitals following the airport attack. The Embassy of India in Kuwait expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that it was coordinating closely with local authorities. As security concerns continue to grow across the Gulf region, governments remain on high alert while closely monitoring further developments and potential threats.
