On Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's arrival at the Oval Office on Friday for a meeting with Donald Trump and JD Vance, a reporter veered off-script and asked him why he was not wearing a suit. Zelenskyy, unshaven, dressed in his trademark black clothes, unflinchingly responded to it asking him, "Do you have a problem?" ....
"Why don't you wear a suit? Do you own a suit?" the reporter asked, leaving JD Vance and some senior officials in the room and fellow journalists in splits.
"Do you have a problem?" Zelenskyy shot back.
"A lot of Americans have a problem with who don't respect the dress code of the Oval office," the reporter responded.
"I don't have sir. I will wear a (suit) costume after this war finishes, yes. Maybe something like yours, yes, maybe something better. I don't know, we will see. Maybe something cheaper. Thank you," he answered.
The video posted on X, elicited many varied responses. Though a few commented against his dress code, many seem to have voiced in favour of Zelenskyy.
One has said: "mind you, elon was in the oval office while in a t-shirt, back jeans, and a hat.."
Another said: "Didn't Zelenskyy and his wife do a photo shoot for Vogue while the war is raging?"
One said: "Thank you President Zelenskyy for showing that cheapster his place..."
"Right on, Zelenskyy. There's more important things to worry about than clothing," commented someone..
"Zeenskyy basically said..I'm in war mode, not Wall Street mode.." was another response.
