World leaders on Monday welcomed the reported peace agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a significant diplomatic breakthrough that could help restore stability in West Asia, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ease economic pressures caused by months of regional conflict. The agreement was announced by US President Donald Trump and was facilitated through mediation efforts led by Pakistan and supported by several regional partners.
The development drew positive reactions from governments across the Middle East and Europe, including Qatar, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, Germany and France. Leaders and diplomats urged all parties to fully implement the agreement and continue pursuing long-term peace through dialogue and diplomacy rather than military confrontation.
Qatar Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani welcomed the understanding reached between Washington and Tehran and praised the contributions of regional and international stakeholders who helped facilitate the negotiations. In a statement posted on X, he said Qatar looked forward to future discussions being conducted in a positive and constructive spirit.

Separately, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the memorandum of understanding between the two countries as an important step toward achieving sustainable peace and strengthening economic growth at both regional and global levels. The ministry also commended Pakistan and other mediators for their efforts in reducing tensions and bringing the two sides closer to an agreement.
The peace deal is expected to pave the way for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important maritime trade routes and a key corridor for global oil shipments. A reduction in tensions in the region could improve energy security, stabilise commodity markets and support international trade after months of uncertainty linked to the conflict.
While details of the agreement have yet to be fully released, international leaders expressed hope that the breakthrough would serve as the foundation for broader regional stability. Many governments stressed the importance of continued diplomatic engagement and confidence-building measures to ensure that the agreement leads to lasting peace and economic recovery across the Middle East.
